I choose Poison Princess for my final novel. The reason that I choose my book was that i wanted a book that i would read for fun, not a book i would have to force myself to read. Poison Princess is a young adult book about a post apocalyptic world focused on one girl's (Evie's) story of how she had visions of the apocalypse and how she keeps having visions afterwards. The opening is in a different persons view, a psycho who kidnaps and tortures girl in his basement. He finds Evie, lures her into his house, and asks her to tell him her story, leading into the main story. The book offers a unique and refreshing way of introducing and telling a story. The book is extremely interesting (even through the kidnapper is incredibly creepy) and i am absolutely hooked on the book.
ReplyDeleteI love books about distopian areas, I think they're really fun to read. This book sounds interesting just like the Hunger Games novels..
DeleteThis book sounds pretty interesting. I might have to check it out sometime.
DeleteThis book sounds likes its a good one to read ill have to read it sometime!
DeleteThe book I chose was Among the Impostors, it is about the main character Luke Garner who is an illegal third child. I chose this book because the back of it seemed interesting about his secretiveness of being a third child. I didn't really choose the book because I knew about it, it was that I just needed a book to read. It's starts off with Jen's father taking Luke to school and Luke starting school while hiding his secret.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds very unique. Is this book fiction or nonfiction I am curious because I know in china that could be true.
DeleteThat is the same way I choose my book the back of the book just really caught my eye. Sounds like your book is just starting to get interesting. I hope you enjoy it!
Deletesounds very interesting, i think this is a boo i would enjoy reading.
Deletesounds like it could be a really good read i wonder if they will catch him or not.
DeleteSounds interesting hope you like reading it
DeleteI have read this book and i think you will really enjoy it is hard to put down once your hooked
DeleteI read this book in middle school you should enjoy it, hope you get hooked.
DeleteSound pretty good, I hope it's a good read.
DeleteSound a like a very good book. Is it a book that is based in the future, or just some other country where having a third child is illegal? Sounds like it would be a book i would like to read.
DeleteFor my last book of this year I chose to read "The Last Lecture". I chose to read this book because Randy Pausch (the narrator) is going through the worst possible thing anyone could go through. Randy had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has only been given months to live. I chose this because my grandma got put in a very similar situation with the same type of cancer. So far I am really enjoying this book way more than the first two. It just kinda hooks because you are intrigued on what his last lecture for his students will consist of.
ReplyDeleteYour book sounds very interesting. It would be interesting to read about what someone would do with only having a few months to live.
DeleteThis sounds interesting and cool that you can relate to the book. You just don't know what to think of something till you start reading it instead of just looking at the cover.
DeleteSounds like an interesting book to find out what he'll do with his life with not much time left. It's also sad to be living, knowing you only have months to live and wonder what he's thinking about through this tough time. I'm also sorry that your grandma was in the same situation. Hope you enjoy your book and his last lecture to his students.
DeleteI think this book would be cool and sad at the same time because if I was all of a sudden told I only had months to live I would have no idea what to do. So its gonna be interesting to see what he will do in those last few months he has to live.
DeleteI chose the book Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. I picked this book because the title caught my attention. To find this book I was looking at the titles and recognized that this was a movie, so I thought it would be good. The book started with the author saying this book has no point and isn't going to be good, but so far i really like this book and I'm hooked.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting that the author starting the book by saying the book isn't going to be good. Hopefully she is wrong and the book is good!
DeleteI find myself doing the same thing when it comes to reading a book. I always judge it by it's cover. I also enjoy reading books that have movies. It's like what you pictured in your head comes to life.
DeleteThis sounds interesting and I can agree when I am looking for a book because I have no idea what I want to read. I can also agree that you can't judge the book by the cover.
DeleteI also kind of went with the technique of finding a book that I have heard of. I have heard of your book and it seems like a good book.
DeleteI am glad you are liking your book so far. The tittle is very catching it sounds like a good book. Did you see the movie yet?
DeleteI feel like the author might have done that to trick you, but it's actually a good book. Hopefully it isn't actually a bad book!!
DeleteI choose to read The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks. I choose this book because I like reading love stories and I know that Nicholas Sparks writes really good love stories. The process I went through while finding the book I wanted to read was looking at any Nicholas Sparks book because I know I like reading his books. I choose this book because I like Nicholas Spark's books and his writing style. My initial thoughts of my book is that it's kind of confusing because the book is a flash back for some parts then sometimes it's not so it's difficult to tell the two apart. My book starts with Dawson getting into a accident. Dawson works on the oil rings off the coast of Louisiana, there was a really bad explosion which threw him off the boat and he goes into the water and he sees this strange man he has never seen before. He survives the explosion and sees the strange man again. I am wondering who this strange man is. I am hooked to my book because the book is so interesting.
ReplyDeleteI agree if you find an authors writing style interesting. It seems that every book he/she writes that you read after it are all apart of the same universe.
DeleteI have heard of this book and it sounds very good. I was going to choose one of Nicholas Sparks books but I did not find any besides the notebook when I was looking. I would be interested in reading this book later.
DeleteI have not read this book but the movie is amazing!!! It kept me on an emotional roller-coaster all the way through.
DeleteI chose the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. This book is about an Italian immigrant struggling to grow up. His brother Pete decided to push him to become better, he wants him to grow up by way of running. His brother sees potential in him because he seems to be a really good runner from stealing things from peoples houses and running from the cops. He makes the Olympics in Berlin and actually meets Hitler. Americans did not know yet what they were doing to the Jews so Louie took a Nazi flag home for a souvenir. The break of war starts between Germany and other countries. America is dragged into WW2. Louie was told to sign up for the military so he joined the Army Air Crew. So far he is explaining the missions and not much has happend yet besides the bombing of an Japanese Air strip, after Plural Harbor.
ReplyDeleteI have read this book before and it is really good. The journey is pretty cool of what Louie does especially from going to the Olympics then join the Army.
DeleteI have never read this book before but it does seem like a good read. I am interested in what happens throughout the book.
DeleteThat is a great book I could not stop reading when I read it. I hope you like it.
DeleteI saw the movie to this book, I thought I was going to hate the movie but I loved it. I had to watch it in creative writing for one of out book reviews. Highly recommend that you watch the movie after the book.
DeleteI saw the movie Unbroken and it was really good. I heard the book and movie are different so im interested to see what happens and if theyre different. I considered reading this book but i found a different one.
DeleteI have read this book before and it is one the best books I have ever read. This book is a must read for those who have not read the book because it is a true story that really leave an impact on you. I hope you are enjoying the book and enjoy this amazing tale of WWll.
DeleteI have read this book before I highly enjoyed it and was touched that main lesson in this book was that he never gave up on anything from the Olympics to the pow camps he always tried his hardest to meet his goals.
DeleteI chose to read the book "Girl, Stolen" because I heard other people that read it liked it. To find my book I went through the library and picked out a few books that looked interesting, and then I asked my friends what book I should read out of the ones I had picked out. My book is about a blind girl, Cheyenne who was sitting in a running car and then someone came in the car to steal it not knowing she was in there and ended up stealing Cheyenne and the car. So far I have been very pleased with this book and when I start reading it I do not want to put it down. I am hoping this book continues to keep me hooked.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds really good. I'm hooked just from your quick summary How old is Cheyenne? What has Cheyenne done so far? How did the person who stole the car react to finding Cheyenne in the car?
DeleteSounds like a book I would like to read.
DeleteDo you think Cheyenne will change the ways of the thief? I am foreshadowing that she helps him some way.
Deletewow this books sounds really interesting. I would really like to read this book to find out what was going through that girls mind and how scary that would have been.
DeleteThat sounds like such a great book to read. Hope the rest of the book is good to.
DeleteThis sounds very interesting and unique! I'm glad you like it so far and I hope you continue to enjoy it! It sounds like a book I would read in the future!!
DeleteI chose to read the book Looking for Alaska by John Green. I chose to read it because a friend recommended it to me. I was told that it has an amazing plot and that you never know what might happen next. I felt like it would be a god book for me because I like to be shocked. The book starts with Miles getting ready to leave for boarding school. After he arrives, he and his roommate, Chip, start to get into mischief. Mile is also starting to have a crush on a girl, Alaska, who is reckless unlike Miles. So far, I am hooked on this book. I feel like something is going to happen because each chapter is a count down to some sort of event.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking to read this book for a while now, let me know what you think of it!
DeleteSounds like a great book, I've never read any of John Green's books, but have seen a few movies based upon his books. I liked the movies and think I would like his books to. Sounds like Miles mischief might catch up with him though in the end. Hope you enjoy your book and find out what the count down is for.
DeleteThis sounds like a book I would read. I'm curious how it will turn out.
DeleteThe book sounds really good and i am interested in what the countdown leads to.
DeleteMy book I'm reading is 1st To Die by James Patterson. I chose this book because I wanted to read it since I started this book series with 2nd Chance. I started reading these books because I like to read books that involve police mysteries. I started reading James Patterson's books with Along Came The Spider. The beginning of my book starts with the main character Lindsay Boxer starting to remember her latest case that traumatized her. I was hooked with the series because I like police mysteries and I needed to read this.
ReplyDeleteI chose the novel "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury. I chose this novel because last year this was one of our reading options for English class and I didn't pick it. I figured I might as well read a book that looked interesting to me not only a year ago, but today as well. The novel is about Guy Montag, a fireman who instead of putting out fires, starts them. The book takes place in the future, and in this future books re outlawed. Anyone caught with books are thrown out of their homes and the books are burned. One day, a girl named Clarisse asks Guy questions that question his morals and whether or not he is truly happy. Guy suddenly realizes that he's not, and when he shows up to burn another set of books, he takes one and hides it. So far the book has me interested, I enjoy the fact that the protagonist is questioning his morals, something that books usually don't focus on. I can't wait to keep reading and am curious as to the direction that the book will go.
ReplyDeleteI loved this book because it is so good.
Deletei loved the movie and also always wanted to read the book
DeleteI agree the movie is good i wanna read the book to see if its better!
Deletei have read this, i love all the many amazing quotes you can get from this book dont be afraid to write a few down and keep it in your pocket.
DeleteDearest Chase,
DeleteI am also reading this book. I am very interested to see what he does with the book he takes. I am also kind of skeptical of the whole situation with his wife. its like they don't even know each other. Very different from our society right now.
Dearest Chase,
DeleteIt has been a fortnight since my last entry delivered to thine eyesockets. I must concur that the book you are procuring is quite a lovely novel and I hope that you truly enjoy the great and confusing adventure this novel embarks you on
For my final I chose Pretty Dead Girls. This book somewhat relates to Pretty Little Liars. It's a darker book about murder and revenge. Pretty much someone is going around killing all of the popular girls in the school. I chose this book because it seemed interesting when I was reading the cover. I also like mystery books where I have to kind of figure out who is doing what. I mostly just looked online for different things and went to BAM to see what they had in the store. I looked in the teen section, the mystery section, fiction, etc. I kind of chose this because it was similar to Pretty Little Liars and I really enjoyed that series. I am not quite hooked yet, but I'm sure I will be very soon. I can't wait to find out more about who is killing all these girls.
ReplyDeleteI agree it sounds a lot like pretty little liars, but a little more intense. Hopefully it is just as good as the pretty little liar books!
DeleteI have never watched pretty little liars, or read this book, but it sounds interesting how someone is murdering the popular kids, is it an unpopular kid, or just someone with a grudge?
DeleteI loved Pretty Little Liars so this book sounds amazing.
DeleteI also love pretty little lairs one of my favorite TV series, I have heard of this book and was always curious about what happens, hopefully it is as good as the show.
DeleteThe book I chose the book Stotan! because I liked Running Loose and hoped this book would have some similarities. I also chose this book because I like the writing style of Chris Crutcher and how I can relate to the main character. So far there hasn't been much action in book, but the main character Walker and his friends signed up for Stotan Week. The book starts of as the swimming team just saw a sign for Stotan Week. One of the swim team member, Nortie is nervous because he doesn't know anything about it and is afraid to sign up, but eventually does and I am not yet hooked, but hope I will be soon.
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to read this book but i decided not to so i looked at different options. How ever i love the way Chris Crutcher writes his books.
Deletethe book has a lot of action just keep reading
Deleteit sounds like a real great book
Deletei chose the book Cracker The Best Dog in Vietnam. I chose this book because it was a war book and i enjoy reading books about historic wars. there was no process for choosing this book i saw it on the shelf saw that it said Vietnam and picked it. So far i love this book i am hooked i can not put it down. it starts of introducing the dog named cracker and her owner which is Willie, how ever will lives in an apartment that does not allow dogs so he has 30 days to get rid of cracker. but for 25 days they could not find anybody to take her i want to know what happens next.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds very interesting. I also enjoy war stories so i believe i would be interested in it. Im looking forward to see how this book turns out. I hope he can find a good place for cracker to go.
DeleteThis book sounds very interesting and good but I'm amazed with how the dog can understand 90 words because I think that's insane.
Deletethe book i chose was game changers. i picked this book because 1 the cover was cool. the biggest reasons though id the young kind in a sport i love and his dream on getting the the professional point. i think i will related to him because he had big dreams like we all did when we were little. im already hocked on the point this book was made and pumped to read the rest!
ReplyDeleteI read this book and I really enjoyed it and I hope you get hooked like I did. I really think you will end up liking it and excited to see how you like Game Changer.
Deletethat sounds like how you would pick a book look at the cover and its about sports.
Deletewow jack your book seemes really interesting and i look forward to finding out what happens to cracker or if turns out like a Mr. poppers penguins
DeleteI chose the book Hatchet. I picked the book because the front cover looked interesting and its out in the wilderness and i like stuff like that. The book starts out with the main character Brian and his mom driving to the airport so Brian could go visit his dad because his parents just got divorced and well Brian is on the plane the pilot has a heart attack and the plane goes down in the middle of the woods and Brian has to survive in the wilderness with himself and a Hatchet his mom gave him.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this book when i read it in middle school, the story never gets too slow and is always interesting.
Deleteinteresting quentin I look forward to learning what your reading and and what it is about.
DeleteI read Hatchet when i was in elementary seeing your post reminded me that this was once my favorite book and i would love to read it again someday.
DeleteI chose More Than You Know by Beth Gutcheon. I choose this book because when I read the back it really caught my attention. I just wanted to keep reading. The reason why I choose this book is because when I read the back of the book it sounded like another book I read already. The book started off pretty slow just like my first book Running loose. But I'm starting to not want to put the book down. But there is a lot of family members that you have to keep track of. So far the book is going good.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds rather interesting, as soon as I read the second to last second I could relate. My book is full of so many different individuals with in a small town whose names I have to remember in order to peace the story together and solve the mystery. It's like the author wanted to write about every name that came to mind.
DeleteI chose the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban because I have read the first 2 books of the series this year and want to finish it. I have also watched all the Harry Potter movies and they were all good. The process I went through to find this book was easy because it is the next book. So far in the book nothing big has really happened so it is a little boring at the start. It starts out with Harry getting reading for his next year at Hogwarts. I can't wait to get farther into the book because it gets good. I am hooked because of whats to come later on in the book.
ReplyDeletethat is a really great book let me know if you enjoy it
DeleteHonestly I have always loved the movie series, but every time I convince myself I want to read one of the books I shortly after change my mind. I tend to like stories that jump right in and don't take over a chapter to introduce the real story, and the length of the book scares me as well. Just because I am awful at staying focused and on page. Maybe one day I'll get to reading it, but that day is definitely not today.
DeleteI always wanted to try to start reading the Harry Potter series but I always look how big they are and think dang the movies were okay but I still think I will read the series at some point. I am interested how this book will turn out for you and see if you like it.
DeleteThis sounds like a really good book and can't wait to here more about it.
DeleteI am reading a long way gone. i chose this book because i enjoyed reading the preview when picking book 2, and i was disappointed i didn't get it so I'm reading it now. I also picked this book because I have never read a book like this before. So far its had a very slow start i haven't really read anything that has hooked my attention.
ReplyDeleteI agree when I read this book the beginning was slow, but the ending is great. Overall this book is a good choice and I would read it again if I could.
DeleteI was going to read that too, but i chose my book, because i really wanted to finish the series! But from what i have heard that is a great book too
DeleteI agree when i read that book it started off very slow but as you read on the book picks up very quickly, this is one of the few books i read this year and it was very good
Deletethat was a good book yes it does start off slow but it gets alot better
DeleteThe book does start off slow but it will get better
Deletethat book seems interesting i actually wanted to read that book for the second book we read
DeleteI chose to read the book The trial of Apollo it is about Greek mythology and how the Greek god Apollo turns into a mortal.Another reason i chose this book is because it is by my favorite author Rick Riordan. so far in my book it isn't really a slow start it grabs your attention right away by talking how he gets turned into a mortal and tossed to earth.
ReplyDeleteI picked to read Wonder because I heard it's a good book and I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie. So far I think the book is interesting to be able to hear August's point of view and how he feels about certain things. I'm not hooked to the book yet, but I'm glad it wasn't a slow start.
ReplyDeleteI really wanted to read this book because the movie is amazing, I cant wait to hear more about this book!
DeleteI've always have wanted to read the book before I saw the movie. I am excited to hear what your thoughts are on the book!
DeleteI've read the book Wonder and I absolutely love it! Augie's only 10 but his perspective on the world is so mature for that age.
DeleteI am reading Fahrenheit 451. I chose this book because i didn't get the chance to read it last year and i have been meaning to read it. I have heard really good things about this book. This novel starts off very confusing because it doesn't explain much and just jumps right in. Now that i am a good chunk into it though, i am hooked. It is very interesting and i can't wait to see what happens next.
ReplyDeleteI read my book for the exact same reasons. Im glad you cant wait to see what happens next
DeleteDearest Ben,
DeleteI am also reading the same novel for the same reasons. I also agree that it's very strange at the start of it, but as the story progresses it becomes very interesting. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I do.
The book I chose is called Four, I chose this book because it is the fourth book in the divergent series, having read all 3 previous books, and watched the movies, I am hooked on the book, it starts with a kid who defys his father and chooses a different group to go with. I am happy with my choice and i have to make myself stop reading it.
ReplyDeleteI loved the divergent movies, from what you said it sounds really good, I might read that series next time i get the chance, I love books about people who have challenges, and are different from others.
Deletethat book and movie series is a really interesting and suspenseful .that is a good choice although i have not read the fourth book
DeleteI love the Divergent series! I still have yet to read the fourth book. Sounds great!
DeleteI chose the 3rd Book of the michael vey series. I chose it because i have wanted to read it, but i never had the drive to do it, because we were not required to read a book of our choice until now. It is about a boy who was born with these special powers and his mother gets captured, and he now is trying to get her back, And he learns more about himself, and others like him along the way. I am very happy with my choice, I loved the books when i was younger i cannot wait to finish the series.
ReplyDeletei chose the book Night. When trying to find a book i got three from mrs. broadbent and i decided to pick this one because it talks about world war 2. As i am reading the book it is getting really good, the main character is jewish and has been waiting for the germans to invade their town. after the germans arrived they gained their trust and eventually ended up taking everyone to a camp called auchwitz.
ReplyDeleteI choose the book The Rookie Arrives i choose it because it is about baseball and it sounded interesting. The Kansas City Royals drafted Ted bell right out of high school he plays third base. he expected to be playing but he gets benched. somebody gets hurt so he gets his shot and we will see how it goes.
ReplyDeleteI choose The Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King because my mother has always loved his books, and I've always loved to read about scary and/or paranormal stories. It is a horror mystery about a werewolf and his kills in a small town each month during the full moon. No one seems to know who the killer is and the entire story focuses on the individuals encounters with the werewolf before he attacks them. I'm looking forward to how this story will end and finding out who the town werewolf really is.
ReplyDeleteThe book you chose to read sounds really dark and twisted. It sounds like a great book that is a horror mystery, just not something I would read.
DeleteWerewolf's remind me of Twilight! Wow your book sounds good and it's a different kind of book. It's definitely different than others books!!
DeleteThe third book i choose to read was Night by Elie Wiesel. I choose this book because after reading the back of the book it got my attention. i wanted to read the book as one of my other books but i changed my mind at the last minute. As soon as i stared reading the book i was hooked the holocaust has always interested me.
ReplyDeletei feel like you well enjoy this book if you want to learn about the holocaust and get a real life opinion.
DeleteI chose the book Relentless by Tim Grover. I chose this book because it is a real motivating book my dad says and it is about successful people. The book starts with Dwayne Wade getting hurt and everyone questioning if he will be okay the next game and he calls Tim Grover and takes a private flight from Miami to Chicago to get right before the next game that was 48 hours away. I am extremely hooked on this book because he has so many stories about every great basketball player that he worked out. I can not wait to keep reading Relentless and to keep learning more about being a cleaner.
ReplyDeleteI chose the book night. I chose this book because I like to read about war and try to understand what it was like from a person that has actually experienced it. I also chose this book because last time I chose it I didn't get to read it. So far I really like this book because it didn't waste anytime getting into the war and talking about what the Jews are having to go through which makes it easy to keep reading and keep me hooked. This book is about world war 2 and it talks about the horrifying details of what the Jews had to go through from a jew that survived through all of it.
ReplyDeletei choose the book blue lily, lily blue . i really didnt have a reason to for picking this book it just seemed interesting with me reading the back cover.the book has alot to do with magical things. the main characater blue is still trying to find her mom from in the previous book. and blue is stuck in a cave that time does not change in .
ReplyDeleteFor my third book I choose Murder Beyond The Grave the book stared out with a man being burred in a coffin and being held for ransom. I choose this book because the title got my attention and when i read the back of the book it made me think it would be a good book to read and it would be good for me to read, and i was walking thought menards and needed a book.
ReplyDeletethe book sounds interesting .... didn't know they sold books at menards.
DeleteI chose to read A Dogs Purpose for my last book. It is a book from a dogs perceptive and the dog is trying to figure out what his purpose in life. I chose this book because I saw the movie and then while at B.A.M, I saw the book and decided to get it and I never got a chance to read it until now. It is quite different than the movie, the basic events are the same but the details are different. So far he has only died once and he is on his second life. In his first life he was homeless and then taken to a big yard with too any dogs. Animal Control had to take the dogs away because the environment was not healthy and then when he got there they put him down. In his second life he was at an breeding place, I think, he ran away from there then a man left him in a hot car with all the windows rolled up and a women broke the window and took the dog to her son named, Ethan. Now lives there with him. It can be hard to read at times because as a dog he doesn't know what things, he describes them the best he can and sometimes I have no idea what he is talking about. Also, he knows what people are saying but he can not comprehend what there saying so its gets really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI really like this movie! It is super sad but it always ends up being a happy ending. Let me know how the book is I might have to give it a whirl.
DeleteI've read that book three different times because I absolutely love it!!! Each time I read it, I feel the same emotions I did the first time I read it! It's really good! Enjoy it!
DeleteI believe our books have many things in common because of the idea that it gives the main character a second chance at life even if it has a deeper meaning in the end. I really hope you like it!
DeleteI am reading the book Called (The Reaper) It is a autobiography of one of the worlds deadliest Special OPS snipers. I choose this book because because i enjoy this style of book and i like learning about war times. This book is so far really interesting and i like the direction that its going. I found this book after watching some videos online and hearing about it it caught my eye and i thought i would like it so im reading it.
ReplyDeleteYour book sounds interesting, i might have to read this when I get time.
DeleteThe book kinda sounds good like American sniper but a little different person. The book sounds really good and I might read it because I like to read about wars and how it was for the soldiers.
DeleteThe book I picked to read is teenage violence because I thought it would be more informational sense I like informational books. It starts of telling about teenage crime in like larger towns I am not really hooked on it because would like to know why crime happens not only what happens
ReplyDeleteSounds like you may have picked a bad book. hope it turns around and hooks you though.
Deletesounds somewhat boring as of now, hopefully it becomes better
DeleteI bet that further into the book it'll hook you, since I only know that you just started I can assume it's still getting all bits of tasty
DeleteI've never heard about that book but it sounds very interesting. It sounds like a book I might enjoy.
DeleteFor my book I choose Divergent because I watched the movie and really liked it and wanted to read the book to see what it was like. The book starts exactly like the movie and so far it is exactly like the movie. So far I really like the book and how similar it is to the movie because it is really easy to imagine the different scenes and the people.
ReplyDeleteOur situation is kind of the same because I also watched The Notebook the movie and I really liked it and wanted to read the book. Except, the book and the movie are very different.
DeleteI really enjoyed watching this movie. I agree that already seeing the movie and now reading the book makes it easier to picture certain situations.
DeleteI decided to read Kipling's Choice. Kipling's Choice is about a lieutenant in WWI trying to survive his first battle after being shot in the leg and then having an explosion right in front of him leaving him a bloody mangled mess. I chose this book because of my interest in history and prior wars. This book did not start off slow it jumped right into the middle of a battle and hooked me right away when they cleared a machine gun tower and then pressed forward through the gun fire.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds like one I could really get into, sounds like a good book, hope it gets better.
DeleteMy book is called Down the Long Hills, The main character Hardy Collins is a 7 year old boy on a wagon train headed west to meet up with his father, Hardy was off fetching his horse when a 3 year old girl decided to follow. They grab the ore and head back to the wagons where they discover Indians had killed and raided the wagons. Now Hardy and little Betty Sue are alone on the open prairie and must keep heading west. Hardy's father ,Scott, heard of what happened to the wagons and is now out searching for his son and Beatty Sue. Hardy is also being followed by and Indian that wants the horse, he is also up against the elements as winter is coming any day. I chose this book because I have read books by this author before and loved them.
ReplyDeleteThe book I chose to read is Tell me Three Things. I chose this book because it was always a book I've wanted to read for fun. Through my process of finding a book I wanted to read, I didn't want to read a book I felt like I was forced to read. I wanted to be able to read a book that I've wanted to read and that's what I did. There was no specific reason I wanted to read this book. With my new book, my first initial thoughts on the book were that it's really slow and doesn't talk about much. When I started getting more into my book, I started to get more hooked and I don't want to put it down.
ReplyDeleteJust by the title it sounds like a good book. I also like when we're able to pick our own books because we all like to read about different things.
DeleteThe book I'm reading is Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. It's about Rachel White who is a young attorney living in Manhattan. Rachel tells herself that she really only needs two things and she'll be happy: a guy who she loves and a job she likes. So far, she's 0 for 2. Her best friend, Darcy, has always had the odds in her favor while literally any and everything turns out the other way for Rachel. Darcy is engaged, she has a job she actually enjoys, and she has someone that genuinely loves her. Darcy decides to throw Rachel a party, but then Dex (Darcy's fiance), has to take her home because she's completely wasted. Dex returns to grab Darcy's purse, asks Rachel if she wants to go for another drink, and they end up back at her apartment. I chose this book because it sounded entertaining and just from what I've read so far, it's like Gossip Girl just the characters are adults.
ReplyDeletethis sounds like an interesting book, i loved the movie!
DeleteThat sounds like a great book to read. Hope you enjoy it!
DeleteI chose the book the Californios. The way i chose this book was buy looking in the library. reading the back of the book is what drew my attention. It is a book about a family that has to make payments on their farm to save it from the bank, but after the crop burns they have no money. so they struggle to find a way .
ReplyDeleteI am reading After you By Jojo Moyes. I chose this book because i read the first book and i really liked it because it really brings out life lessons. The first thoughts about this book is that copping with loss comes in different ways. Liusa is coping with wills death and she drinks and she fell of the roof and is now seeing her family in such a long time because they stopped talking after will took his life because they did not agree with that choice. Now there is a girl calming to be wills long lost daughter and she came too see liusa because she was the only person will got along with.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book The Magic Thief as my last book of the Tri. I chose this book because I love fantasy setting and getting sent to a whole new world with different possibilities and rules. So far the book is pretty good, the main character stole a magicians stone, and the story just goes from there. It's definitely a good book so far.
ReplyDeleteI was definitely thinking about reading this book, if it wasn't so sad.
ReplyDeletethe Westing game revolves around several small families living in a newly constructed apartment building that seems to be perfect for them. A doctors office, restaurant, and tailor all built into the building so no one practically had to leave the building and before the tenants bought the apartments there names were already on the mail boxes of the building. most recently the children of the tenants have made a bet to go up to the old Westing manor because it is supposedly haunted. I chose this book because i really like mystery books and because it looked very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book " Return With Honor". The book is about an american fighter pilot that got shot down in Bosnia and has to survive in enemy territory. I choose this book because i enjoy stories about wars and in this book there is fighting in this book. There was no specific reason on choosing this book. I am not a big reader so i choose this book because i thought i would enjoy this and i do enjoy it. The book is good so far and it has me hooked. it starts with the pilots getting ready for a normal fly and the one pilot got shot down.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really good book to read. I always enjoy books about wars because the story is quite compelling and draws you in wanting to read more.
DeleteThe book that I choose was The Notebook by Nickolas Sparks. I choose it because I like the books that Nickolas Sparks writes and I saw the movie already so I decided to give the book a shot. I found my book at the library here a school. I choose to read this book because I really just wanted to read it because I love the movie. My initial thoughts on the book already is that it is really different from movie but I like the book better than the movie. It starts with them being old and Noah goes and reads to Allie in a nursing home to remind her of the life that those two lovers had once. I am definitely hooked, best Nickolas Sparks book ever.
ReplyDeleteWhat is different between the book and the movie. I'm glad that you think that the book is better than the movie then.
DeleteThe books are always better than the movie. This book is awesome, and I think the love story of Allie and Noah is awesome. Hopefully you are loving it!
DeleteI am reading the book "Cujo". It is about this family and how they have problem. First their car brakes and they have to go get it fixed. They drive to a farm outside of town and it seemed kinda sketchy and there is a huge dog. The dog is a Saint Bernard and the little boy gets along with him really well. It turns out that the place they went is a really good place and they left happy. I chose this book because it was based of a dog and it seemed like it would be a good read.
ReplyDeleteI love doggies. Therefore it is a good book
DeleteThat sounds like a very good book and they are very luckly that they went to that farm and not anyone else’s because they could of gotten robbed.
DeleteI began reading The Diary of an Oxygen and I was immediately enthralled by the nature and context of the book. It's a story of this man who was an abuser of alcohol, and to cope with the state of depression he started to convey it onto others, specifically females. He would court them and then break their hearts just to see them broken like him.
ReplyDeleteWow, this man seems like he has been through a lot. It is awful that he feels like he has to hurt people, so they know how he felt. He is going to have a super hard time finding a girlfriend if he keeps acting this way.
DeleteThis dude sounds awful. I could never imagine doing something like that to another person.
DeleteWow that's a strong topic and is definitely sad. I can't believe some people can be so heartless!
DeleteDear Marcus,
DeleteThat book sounds very dark and interesting, I might have to read some time this summer. I truly hope that you enjoy your novel.
That sounds like very interesting book. Mine also has an alcoholic and another character has depression.
DeleteI am reading the book Straight Talking, I chose this book because Ms. Broadbent thought it would be a great fit for me. It is very different from anything that I have ever read before. My initial thoughts on the book are that it is hilarious and totally relatable to the reader. It starts with meeting the main character named, Tasha, who is a producer for a morning television show. She clearly doesn't have a great love life and can barely keep a boyfriend for more than a week. I am really liking the book so far and am happy with my decision
ReplyDeleteDearest Chase,
ReplyDeleteThis seems like it is a very good book. Why would he take a book even though he wasn't supposed to?
I chose Promise Not To Tell by Jennifer McMahon as my final novel. I chose this book because I read the synopsis of the book and it seemed interesting to me. A process that I went through to find my book would be that I wanted to read a book about a murder because that is somehow interesting to me and this book is so far really good. The beginning of Promise Not To Tell takes place in 1979 when this one girl Del aka Potato Girl was murdered, then it jumps ahead to the present time of 2002. So far I am hooked because it is very unique and makes me not want to put it down til I find out what happens to this Del girl.
ReplyDeleteim reading the war below, i choose this book because the cover looked interesting and its about war. the main character, luka is in the back of a truck with a bunch of his dead friends using them for cover so the Nazis wont see him and he thinks that they deserve more respect than that and when he jumps out he blacks out then when he wakes up he dosent know where he was. it is a good book so far i hope it gets even better
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book The Returned by Jason Mott because my father actually recommended it. It also has a French television show based on it called Les Revenants, but this book has a very interesting premise because it is about loved ones who have passed away but return many years later. The book starts off with a elderly couple who's son passed away fifty years prior. One night they hear a knock at the door and meet a sharply dressed man with a young child of eight years old behind him, which turned out to be their very own son. I really like this book because it's all about second chances and what kind of choices people can make.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite authors came out with a second book, so I really wanted to read it. I related Jennifer Niven's first book and definitely relate to "Holding up the Universe" as well! Unlike other books I have read, this one took off right away and still hasn't had a dull moment and i'm halfway finished with the book already. My book is about a teenage girl named Libby Strout who was officially named the world fattest teen. At the beginning of the book she had to literally be cut out of her home. She gained all the crazy weight because the stress of losing her mother o an unknown cause. She's currently losing weight, but still has a ways to go. Another main character is Jack Masselin. The chapters go back and forth between both of their perspectives, and in both they seem to slowly be getting closer and closer. I haven't gotten to the part where things happen between them, but by the summary on the book, it obviously happens. Jack is one of the few in her school that will actually talk to her and accept her for who she really is. She is bullied and teased because she doesn't look like the other girls, and isn't sporty like everyone else, but Jack and her friend Iris see past that. This is one of the things I can relate to in the book. This book shows what high school can really be like for people who are different in today's society. Today, people don't look past the exterior of someone and don't bother to focus on the beauty within, but it just takes those few people to open their eyes and appreciate who you really are.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book Two Minute Drill by Mike Lupica and I chose this book because it has to deal with sports and I really like sports. The book right now is about this new kid named Scott who comes to the school but he gets bullied by an offensive lineman named Jimmy Dolan. But the quarterback Chris Conlan is sticking up for Scott and they become really good friends. Chris convinces Scott to go out for football but Scott says hes not good at anything. So the next day Scott starts kicking a football and finds out hes good at it so now hes gonna go out for kicker. Right now that's all that happened but I can't wait to keep reading.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book "Black Ice" by Becca Fitzpatrick. I chose it because I read the back of the book and some parts relate to my life personally. The front of the book says "Danger is hard to resist" and that definitely caught my attention because I can relate to it. I wanted to find a book I could relate to in some way. I found a few other books, but decided to do this book for class and do the others outside of class. I was in the library looking at several books trying to find a book I could relate too. My first reaction was wow, this is really good! I was hooked within the first few pages and it's hard to put down once you pick it up. It started with Lauren going home drunk with a cowboy and he drove her to this cabin and strangled her to death. Police were never able to find her body so they assumed she drowned. A year after the murder, a girl and her best friend were going to vacation in the mountains. A huge snow storm hit and they got lost on the way. They went to this cabin to find shelter and these two older men were in there. One man was from the gas station and pretended to be her boyfriend previously in the book. Britt and Kolbie went in the cabin and ate at sat by the fire. All of a sudden, the handsome kind man took out a gun and said they had to do whatever he said. They got hit by Shaun when they didn't listen but the other man was gentle with them. His name was Mason. He would never let Shaun hit Britt. Britt opened a toolbox in the storage room looking for weapons, but what she found instead was Lauren's dead body and bones stuffed in there. Britt knew it was a murder and was terrified she would get murdered. She had to lead Mason and Shaun off the mountain or she would get killed. Shaun shot a game warden who found Britt, and Britt's ex boyfriend, Calvin, shot Shaun. Britt traveled with Mason after Shaun died and learned lots of secrets but there's so much he is still hiding from her. They find each other attracted with each other but Britt can't tell if he's someone she can trust. I mean he held her hostage, and is now acting all nice. I love this book so much! I can't wait to find out his other secrets!
ReplyDeleteI have choosen the a long way gone the reason have picked this book because I did not get to read it from the last group of books we read. How I got the book is when we was introducing the books to us this is the book that really stood out to me. But I ended up get my second choose. I am about a quarter of the way through my book it’s was boring at first but now it’s starting to pick up more thing are happening but I will know a lot more when I read I little further. But I can’t wait to read more and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteI read this as my second book and I fully agree with what you're saying about the book being boring in the beginning. The book picks up a lot and the plot gets very exciting. Overall I really enjoyed this book and im sure you will to.
DeleteMy book Storm is about 4 teenagers who are in a apocalyptic civil war where the us navy and the us airforce are in a raging battle. the three teens are traveling the country to try and find survivors and figure out what is happening and why is happening. I chose this book because i had read the entire series a few years back and was look for a reason to read it again but just didnt have the time and im glad i did because now that im reading it again i have picked up on a lot key parts that I missed the first time around.
ReplyDeleteI am reading The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder. I chose this book because I bought it a year ago and never found time to read it. I figured reading it for this class would be the perfect time. So far I am enjoying the book. It actually refers to many popular things we used or had a few years ago. The book was a little bit of a slow start but didn’t take too long before I was hooked.
ReplyDeleteMy book is Night be Elie Wiesel. I chose this book because everyone else that has read this book before always said good things about it and how interesting the story is. I chose this book because i am interested in history and felt as if this story may keep me interested in reading it even more. The book starts out by slowly introducing the main character named Elie and describes part of the situation he is in. I was definitely hooked when the plot line started of by saying people were starting to be taken away.
